Most adolescents fail to use sunscreen, even if they have a family history of skin cancer, according to a survey of 220 Virginia teens, 81 % of whom spent most weekends in the sun.

One third said they never used a sunscreen and 9% said they always used one, according to a repoit in Pediatrics. Teens were more likely to use a sunscreen if their parents had insisted on it when they were young, and also if their close fl1ends used sunscreens.
